bales out of corn?

In a dry summer a while back there was quite a bit of corn that didn't fully mature and wasn't worth combining. A neighbor cut and baled some, I bought some and they worked fine. I would definitely do it again if faced with the same situation. I wouldn't do it with a mature crop unless prices were even lower than what they are this fall for corn.

We always graze cornstalks and sometimes bale some also for bedding,

i dont quite get what you mean.

ChrisB..
also how would you cut the corn.
did they make hay or silage out of the corn bales?
or would both work

We bale up cornstalks, if that is what you are refering to? After the combine, rake and put up dry. Works for great bedding that they can chew on. We also grind and mix with a little ground hay, and 1 1/2# per head of gluten.... Full ration for the old cows. You can buy cornstalk bales around here for $9 a bale. Cheap windbreak awhen you stack them. I don't get much for straw, so I love the corn stalk bales.
