Like a lot of people these days.....we have working on trying to improve the quality of our replacement heifers. We really like the Gelbveigh/Angus cross cattle. We then use straight angus bulls on the Balancer cows. We have settled in on Goodnight 715T as our base AI sire. We have been using Lazy TV Watchman on the GN daughters. We like what we are getting...although we are wondering if we maybe going too far on maternal traits......I would love to hear what you Gelbveigh guys think of some of our efforts here. Thanks in advance.....

I really like them. They look very much like my cattle. The cow in the second picture is almost an identical twin to a Balancer cow that I have in build, look and even the one pink teat.

I haven't used Goodnight but use Sam a lot and love his dtrs. I cannot get a bull out of him though. Looks like you are on the right track as far as I can see.

Nice cattle. You should get with my partner in Warrensburg and see what we are doing with GV's.

Those are some nice females. It looks like your program is working for you. I've used 715T for a couple years. Mainly gotten bulls out of him, but the females I got were the keeping type. As far as going to far on the maternal traits....as long as you keep your milk in check for your environment and your females can still raise some big calves I think you will be happy with the results.
