Bailout!

Help Support CattleToday:

I think everyone does... lets not forget freddie mac and fanny mae that should be in there too... I think it should just show a huge crowd asking for bailouts

I think with the amount of money that's being spent on bailouts, it would have ended up being more fair and more effective to just cut every man woman and child in the states a check for 3000 to get the economy going

You have made the assumption that everyone would use that money wisely. Fact is, most folks would go spend it at Walmart, so it would be more like bailing out China.

Maybe but I'd prefer to see term limits on our congressmen. Line item veto. Reducing size of the government. Refusing health care at ER rooms to people with no insurance and no proof of citizenship. Redefine treason to include Wall Street and DC hanky-panky. Outlawing lobby groups. I'd like to see us get back to a government of the people rather than a people with a government. The latter sounds too much like an illness.

Of course I have noticed that all the bad times started with the advent of American Idol. Maybe we need to outlaw this show too. Couldn't hurt.

Jogeephus: Don't know about refusing people who come to the ER. You are a harder man than me if you could turn away some kid with a broken leg because they didn't have insurance.
At least we don't have to worry about that in good old "socialist Canada".

I like this idea.

How about government be required to show that it has the constitutional authority to spend the money on a project. Make this a requirement for each and every spending bill.

Seems that one of our senators has been pushing this for years, and everyone keeps pushing that under the rug. If we could only get back to a constitutional government, many of the nanny-state problems would be solved.

Probably 75% of all government spending now is illegal........

Does Simon have a valid green card? Maybe he could be deported.  And the past winners could be sent into exile somewhere.

Good starting point.... I'd like to add... Federal flat tax collected on sales, not income. Abolish the IRS. Enforce existing immigration laws. No free health care, welfare, or education for illegal aliens. Consider city councils that approve "safe haven" cities to have committed an act of treason. Stricter welfare rules. If you don't have a job and cannot afford training, we'll help you get skill training. If we provide training in the skills you need for a job, and you cannot keep a job, you get no welfare. Drug tests for every single person that receives a check from the government. Let the free market system work and try to get the government out of the way. Remove restrictions on offshore drilling. No subsidies for corn based ethanol. Let it either fly or drop on it's own merits. No cow taxes.

And finally, tickets in coach on commercial airlines, trains, or buses for elected officials and make it a violation for them to fly on a private jet. They need to be amongst the people that they represent. ;-)

I am not so good at math, and trying to get a concept of what a billion is let alone trillion etc. BUT seems like if all that "bail out" was divided out to every man woman and child wouldn't it be more like $300,000. each?????????

I tried to figure that out a while back,CKC. Had to give up because I ran out of space for all the 0s. We certainly seem to be intent on bailing out the billionaires who produce nothing but paper (and campaign contributions). We're not concerned at all with the vast majority of the US population who are struggling just to provide food and shelter for their families.

I don't know if corruption in government is worse than ever before, or if the corrupt are just more brazen about it now. Principles and honesty seem to go out the window with the first election. You'd really think that We, the sheeple, would finally get fed up and conduct a house-cleaning up there.

Seems the least they could do would be to hand out vouchers for a new car to every CITIZEN. Seems like that should help. Of course, then they'd have to give out vouchers for sound systems and rims......

But, that's just me.

It called double talk. You tell the rich you are going to raise their taxes. The middle class and the poor think, "oh it's about time", and vote for you. You then turn around and give money to the rich to pay this new higher tax through bail-outs. :stop:

I agree. Or you give "tax cuts" to people that don't pay taxes. I don't understand the language they speak up there...

Nope. Big numbers can get confusing, one trillion (1,000,000,000,000) is one million million (1,000,000,000,0000)

Dividing one trillion ($1,000,000,000,000.00) among 300 million (300,000,000) population would give each $3,333.33

1,000,000,000,000 = 10,000
. . . . 300,000,000 = . . . . .3

A trend has been set- everyone wants a Bailout

Flynt, Francis Ask Congress For XXX Large BailoutLOS ANGELES

Larry Flynt (pictured) and Joe Francis have asked Congress for a $5 billion federal bailout.

Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt and "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis announced Wednesday that they have asked Congress for a $5 billion federal bailout to help the adult entertainment industry during the economic downturn.

"People are too depressed to be sexually active," Flynt said. "This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex."

"Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation's most important businesses," he said. "We feel we deserve the same consideration. In difficult economic times, Americans turn to entertainment for relief. More and more, the kind of entertainment they turn to is adult entertainment."

According to Flynt and Francis, adult DVD sales and rentals have decreased by 22 percent in the past year.

Francis said the money for the $13 billion industry would be "just to see us through hard times."

"With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind,"
Flynt said. "It's time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America. The only way they can do this is by supporting the adult industry and doing it quickly."

hahaha.. what's next?

I think the taxpayers should be asking for a bailout too

BTW, a trillion is one MILLION MILLION
1 trillion divided among 300 million americans would be $3,333.33

Yep you are correct. When figguring out how many millions were in a trillion I divided by 100 million. But I wrote the check for the correct amount. ;-)
