bad leg..

what is happening to a leg that got caught and wrenched pretty bad, it swelled up, but instead of getting better, the muscle got hard, real hard. now it is splitting the skin open and some hair is falling off. it has infection in it. i have been giving him penicillin and applying topical spray and salve for the infection.

did the circulation getting cut off in effect kill this leg? he is unable to walk on it.

any comments/help appreciated,

What may be happening is the damaged tissue is walled off and rotting away, I would treat with hydro therapy, blast it with water every day, clear away any necrotic tissue, clean hair away from area, scrub with a disinfectant like betadine scrub, aply an antibiotic powder, after treating with peroxide.

You may have lost the battle on this one.
