Back in the stand

Help Support CattleToday:

Me and my grandson are hunting in a double ladder bow stand in Leon county Texas trying to get his first deer with a bow.
We hunted opening weekend and he got so shook up he couldn't draw his bow back. Lol
It was a good learning experience.
Seen 8 yesterday nothing so far this morning. Rut hasn't started here yet it's close.
Hope he gets one, nothing finer. It's better to have them addicted to hunting.
As my dad always said better for the boy to be hunting than hunting the boy.

Season closed here Wednesday. Tag soup for me this year. Actually the freezer is already full so I passed up over a dozen bucks. I was hunting for the big one. I do know where I could have gone to get him but I am too old, fat, and out of shape to go hunt there. That third picture the canyon on the far left edge of the picture holds some real bucks. But there are no roads down there and where the hill drops off it turns into vertical rock walls. The young people who came to hunt all got their buck.

Good luck to all ! Low 40's this morning in N Alabama. The trees are all still green and very few if any leaves have fallen . Bow season opened this week in Alabama but I broke a wrist and tore a tricep a few years back . So I don't throw sticks at them anymore . Been building a new shooting house this week to put behind my house . Not as much to hunt out of but to get out of the house and enjoy God's creation.E2475007-05FD-4653-8947-504AFF0073B9.jpeg

Everyone who shoots a deer of either sex should check the bite to see if it has a normal bite or an underbite. Eastern deer often have an overbite, but that is pretty obvious, and such deer are called "Dork Deer" for some reason. The underdeveloped facial bones are a serious birth defect that has been shown to be caused on deer by exposure to the insecticide, Imidacloprid. The study done in South Dakota, was widely written about, even in other countries when it was published in 2019.

The flowers on the windows is a nice addition. I'm sure the animals will appreciate it. 😄

Wouldn't be an issue here. All the deer shot here are many miles from anywhere a insecticide would be used.
