Aussie prices

Help Support CattleToday:

So what's up with that Ken?

Is that like after drought prices?
Yes after the drought restocking along with a good season and this summer is shaping up well. A lot of people have a lot of grass and no cattle to eat it and I think the cow herd got down a lot lower than what the statistics tell us. People are quick to point out the US dollar equivalent however I don't think that matters much when you are spending the money in your local economy, it does help us to remain competitive in our export markets so we can have our cake and eat it. As I posted recently I got $2726/head for some 466kg feeder steers recently so the money is not just for cattle going onto grass.
Yes, we are happy with the current prices but we all know that it is a supply and demand cycle that will not last forever. It would be nice if when things go down that they remain at a sustainable level for all in the supply chain to make a quid out of it but we know that will not happen, it will overshoot the mark as always.
