I had an opportunity to get some crowns, and no where to put them. So they went into some of the "lick tubs, so they could grow/survive. They are putting up tons of little thin spears... I will get them into the ground where I want a "permanent bed" of them... and then go from there... They were little crowns... it will be a pain to separate them out, but will give me some asparagus next year I hope. They should be planted when dormant but they will get planted when I can do it, and hopefully most will survive.
Got some of the purple ones too.
A friend started them from seed and he started them in a plastic kid swimming pool. Then planted them in his garden and was picking all the good sized ones by the third year.
