Which type of AI guns do you prefer, the French donut ring type or the twist on?
Do I need to buy both the 1/2cc and 1/4cc size?

I use twist type because I would lose the donut ring and be SOL. Never had problems with twist-type. 1/4 cc gun would be needed if you plan on using sexed semen.

I use the donut kind. Only time I had problem with them getting lost was when I loaned them out.

We use the twist kind. We have both since we use limited sexed semen.

I like the twist on, probably whatever you start with and are used to. You can get a kombi gun for both if your gonna use sexed semen. I think with the kombi gun the plunger goes about 3/8 of an inch past the rod, when the straw is seated it sticks out that far also making it easy to bend the straw over if your not real careful.

I hate the o-ring guns. Replaced them with 2 Kombicolors. Much prefer them to the spiral guns, also. The Kombicolor is a few centimeters longer...in big cows that can make a difference.

Whichever you get, make sure you get the right sheaths.
