stop birds from hitting my windows?

The back of our house is all windows. We have a large bird feeder 30 ft away with hundreds of birds feeding at any one time. Certain breeds seem to be more suceptical to hitting the windows.

Any ideas to help stop it other than getting rid of the feeder?

Move the feeder further away... ;-)

We had some stick on cutouts of hawks that were stuck on the window and that helped, just having something that makes the window non-transparent but not reflective like a mirror also works.

had a feeder with the same problem a few years ago
bought a bird shaped sticker for the window that had some reflective ribbons hanging from it
it worked the birds could see the movement and would realize there was something there...

it was bird shaped so the bird would know the message was for him ;-)
I do think it is quite comical to watch a male bird fight off the bird in the window - especially when they come back day after day and that other bird is there again

Bird feeders need to be either real close to the window(no room to build up speed) or real far away(time to dodge) Ultraviolet stickers work,as birds do not see as we do. Streamers across the windows might work

actually i dont think that cats work very well. we have some (lost one tonite from rat poison) and we have just as many birds as ever i think.

It was meant as a joke......I have two Cats and not very many birds are ever caught thankfully.
