Antique Roadshow

Help Support CattleToday:

Did you ever see the guy who brought the civil war pistols to the roadshow. Proudly said he bought them for only $500 or so. Appraiser looked at them and said they were replicas and were worth a fraction of what he paid. The look on the guys face was priceless.

I liked the one where the man was in his 70s or 80s from Arizona or New Mexico and he brought in a indian war chief blanket that was worth millions and was musuem quality and he said it had been hanging on the back of his rocking chair for yrs
He looked like he was just an old rancher or cowboy and I was hoping he didn't have a heartattack right there on the show

and yes Jo I seen the fake pistols they don't show that too often that was great

How about the man with the Indian blanket? The appraiser called it a National Treasure. The man had had this blanket on the back of his chair. He started to cry.

I love that show. I tried to get tickets once when they were in Houston but didn't. They are free and they do it by lottery.

I saw that one, too.

carry in a piece of junk, and come out neednin' a gaurd

Give me cashier's check or a bank wire. I heard several stories of people hitting a big jackpot at a casino and a thief follows them to the car before they steal the cash.

I love that show, on a show here a man and is wife took a painting on and the Valuer got real excited, and asked if the show could take the painting to the Victoria and Albert Museum for verification as he thought it could be a great find, he never told the couple on screen why, and a few weeks later on the show they went to the couples house to tell them what it was and how much it was worth, He told the man to take a seat, It turned out to be a painting that had been lost for many hundreds of years and was none less than a Leonardo Di Vinci cartoon worth a small fortune, and the V&A wanted to buy it from them to make up the four. Not sure if he did sell, or put it on loan, but it does hang in the museum. Oh! if only.

I like that show too, who doesn't dream of finding that rare thing, and it being worth a fortune. In WI somewhere, can't remember where, a guy bought a painting at a garage sale, for $1, took it home, got to looking at it, and found that the outside painting was actually covering a different painting, it turned out to be a rare painting by Da Vinci I think, the guy sold it for $7 million.

I specially like the people who bring in jewelry, so interesting, to see if the jewels are real or fake, they are usually real, and the people don't even know it, worth ten of thousands of dollars.

I like the appraisor guys who are twins, into the new england furnture.. they really get into it.

I went to the Antiques Roadshow when it came to Houston. I took 5 small Oriental rugs of my mother's. When the appraiser threw them on the floor and walked over them, I knew that they were not as special as my elderly mother thought they were. The most valuable one was $500. The others $300.

I would like to go again.

:D That's funny the guy walking on your rugs. Did that help him in his appraisal?

One of my favorite shows as well. It comes on twice each week here so I seldom miss it. :D
