Anyone still doing this cross ?

Any recent photos ?

The Angus Murray Grey cross is a good one. We had our first 3 50% Murray Grey x 50% Angus bred heifers back in 2011, and two of them are still in production currently. As first calf heifers, all three weaned bull calves that were over 600 lbs. We have not had to designate a single one of their calves for our beef program because their bull offspring have been a favorite amongst commercial breeders and their heifers have been top notch. The first photo shows a 9 year old 50% cow with her 3 month old bull calf. The second photo shows another 50% cow with her 5 month old heifer calf. The last picture shows a 75% Murray Grey x 25% Angus cow with her 7/8ths bull calf.

These calves were all born May 29-July 10. A bit later than they can use at this fair for the steers (preferred in Feb-April) so they are either going to ship them or I will finish them off. They were looking for replacement females for their 4H quality herd but wanted to have better temperament. All their cows are in the teens other than 5 heifers they have calving in March.

Their oldest cow (red angus) had twin heifers. Wish I would have got some individual images but the weather was not in our favor.
