I am currently raising some bottle holsteins. Once they are weaned, I plan on keeping 2 of them to feed my extended family, and selling the other 2 at around 400 or 500lbs to offset some of the cost. My question is once I start weaning them and they are eating some starter and hay, how much starter should I feed each of them a day? Do I need to switch to something else besides starter at a certain point (If i do, how much)? Also, they will have plenty of good quality hay (Pasture not that great) and mineral.

Thanks in advance

By weaning they should be eating 2-3 lbs a day of a quality grain mixture. Until they're 6-7 months old the grain should be gradually increased so that it stays at about 2% of their body weight.
