almonds as alternative feed

Help Support CattleToday:

I have not heard of feeding whole almonds as the cost would be very high, but we have fed almond hulls the by-product from harvesting almonds. We were addind them to a mostly crop by-product ration with orange pulp and skins to bulls being finished out on Bull test. They did very well, and thier coats were very glossy and dark.

The mix was very palatable and cost effective, if you have a cheep source of almonds I would seriously consider feedind them, but have a nutritionist work out a bleb for you with your other available feed stuffs so that you get a goon ballance of protein and fiber and compensate for any required nutrients with a loose mineral added or suplimented free choice.
