Allen Gate & Panel

Those single file load outs using the slide gate on the trailer just don't happen here. Must be a regional thing. I have loaded out thousands of cattle from lots of corrals and never once did it using the slider. And have never even seen a set up to load that way. Always an alley to a gate which is the width of the trailer. Lots of them with a corner in the alley. Also crowd gates.

That is not the load out. That is to a head gate that isn't installed yet.

The load out is not setup yet. It comes off the 180 crowding pen. It's 5 ft wide and will be at the trailer. A gate open next to the slide chute that is closed. There is a 5 ft gate at the trailer and at the crowding pen.

Look at the original drawing and you'll understand it.

My only suggestion is don't make it 5' wide. That may work with butterfly doors ok. It should be as wide as your trailer IMO and just as deep so a full load fits in it. Put a gate mid way that swings and catches your trailer door and you can push them right up on the trailer. The set up I have sketched below is hands down the smoothest I have used especially loading a 32'or less gooseneck. At 5' it will be wider than your slider and narrower than your door and calves will jam up in it. I agree with Dave loading from an alley is a pain particularly if you are alone and loading a bunch.

Looking at that lower pic you could fan those panels out to accommodate your trailer door but still think you will have trouble with pushing them out of the sweep and then them circling at the back of the trailer. JMO but I load a lot of cattle from a lot of different setups.

I realized where you were loading them. I thought that the gate was narrower than 5 feet. And that you back a trailer right up to the gate and use the slider. If my stupid computer would recognize my camera I would take a picture of my load out to show you what I mean.
Yeah but everybody around here uses the same load out for both. Single file into GN trailer slider, plop ramp in front of that and your loading a pot.
Everyone here has a solid ramp for loading pots. There are some portable ramps around. They rarely get used and when they are used it is generally to unload a pot at a location with no corral.

I definitely have the flexibility to add more panels to lengthen the load out, I won't be handling a lot of head through my setup, but at least it gives me a solid start for working cattle.
