I know years ago when I was in registered cattle I had annual herd work done to have a certified and accredited herd, i think that was for bangs and tb.
That way with having that distinction they didn't need to be tested right before sale and I just needed health papers.
When we move we are going to likely take a few head of cattle and a donkey.
What vet work will we need to have done and will we still need health papers from vet?

Depends on the state where you are going for starters... Coggins for sure for the donkey... all equines... and many places are requiring the east and west nile virus vaccines... required for most shows and transport of equines.
Any breeding cattle over 18 months, sexually intact, must have the new "state buttons"... same as what they put in the cattle's ears if a breeding animal goes home to the farm... ANY identifiable dairy cattle must have the state buttons... even baby calves and steers... Unless going directly to slaughter...
Another thing... this latest New World Screwworm may affect transportation also... border to Mexico is closed for any importation and now Miss ag commissioner is warning farmers of possible infestation.... so it might affect transporting in the future even within the US.... You will have to check with a vet before you move them... and there is also requirements for show cattle that travel out of state to have a negative test within 14 days for this bird flu that has shown up in cattle... mostly dairy... but again, who knows when it comes time to move them.
One reason why I want to bangs vacc my heifers.... one less test to worry about if they get moved... Many of these transportation tests have to be done within 30-60 days.....

Thank you for the reply, that'll give me an idea and that we'll need to get on it pretty fast once things get rolling. We'll get with our vet. I we used to do the bangs vacc. but haven't for many years. When we sold heifers in the bred heifer sales a few years ago they put state tag and a metal tag.
I reckon our Jerseys and JerseyXs may be some of the ones to make the cut to go with us.
