Well I posted about a year ago about a foundation we were starting in my Grandsons memory, he had a true love of cattle even tho he was only 17 months old. We sponsored 3 kids this year and each one of them had a very successful year in their own right. We sponsored a local young lady who show a commercial heifer we raised, we sponsored a young man from our area with a steer project, and a young lady from the central valley with an Angus heifer from Colburn Cattle Company. The season is over and they all did well. The commercial heifer won her division at several shows and was just a good easy going heifer to work with, the young lady was also involved in researching and selecting a sire for the heifers first calf. The young man and the steer competed at the county fair did well he received a Blue ribbon and sold the steer through the auction, He did learn a lot in the project, he had to deal with a case of ring worm, cattle lice and a little bit of a sensitive stomach on the steer, he worked through each problem and got the steer back on track each time. The young lady with the Angus heifer knocked it out of the park as far a showing goes, several champions, class winner at almost every show, reserve supreme champion at the state fair. All three of the young people were great to work with, did every they were asked to do and learned some valuable lessons along the way. We will start all over again for next year this October.
