A new adventure

Help Support CattleToday:

Dang! Not the type of adventure I'd wish on anyone and my thoughts, prayers, good juju and a glass of wine are with you. That said, you have a great attitude, which is HUGE! The mind is a powerful thing. Stay strong and know that we're all rooting for you!
TC, I'll bitch but I don't wine, give me an IPA please!🤣🤣 2 a day limit now. 🤷‍♂️

First of all if you think something is different about yourself get checked out. I was diagnosed with a rare type of colon/rectal cancer 7 weeks ago. I had surgery to remove two tumors, surgery was smooth enough but they couldn't get all of them without taking my rectum too. So next Monday I start chemotherapy and radiation in downtown Seattle, just getting there 5 days a week will be an adventure. This is an unknown road for me and I'm a little bit nervous, I realize I'm not the first person to experience this and it will work out or it won't. Just the doggone possible side affects are crazy enough. I feel like I have a good team at Virginia Mason Seattle, lots of communication between departments. I have my ferry pass and I'm ready to roll. Way too many one way streets over there too.View attachment 9698View attachment 9699

How old are you? I can't even imagine. 😓💔 I would be overwhelmed just taking the ferry and driving in Seattle. It would be one thing going as a hoilday, but to go for treatment is another. I guess it's all mind over matter. If you don't mind it don't matter. Look at it as a new adventure take it one day at a time, one moment at a time if you need too. If the going gets tough, if you get tired from treatment, just do what you can and forget the rest. I'm not one to be the best with words or advice. We are 35 hours from you or I'd offer if you need any help let us know. 😬

Shell I'm 61, I'm thankful for the 12 miles of saltwater that separates me from Seattle. The ferry system is short handed so there's one less boat and the West Seattle Bridge is out of commission adding to the adventure. Monday will be all day at the hospital, after that the daily radiation should be in and out in an hour. Hopefully
At least once a week I plan on treating myself to a favorite grub spot.

My husband said he could come operate that other ferry for you. He could give you, your own personal lift. He was a boat captain for many years and still has his license. Shouldn't take much if he wanted to get them in Washington.
Treating yourself sounds like a good plan and something to look forward.
We all have obstacles in life. I try to look at it as it could always be worse. 🤷🏽‍♀️
Do some research on Matcha green tea. The actual Japanese power matcha green tea. The benefits is supposed to be very benefits. I'm not a doctor, just saying from what I have read and my own experience. I drink it and feel it helps.

Sounds like Bainbridge. Good friend lived there and dealing with the ferry was her only complaint.

Best of luck with the radiation! And there's nothing like bad-for-you good grub;)

"Braindead" island is also a boat ride from Seattle, that route drops you off in downtown Seattle. Same with the Bremerton route. My route from Southworth (in the country, where people have cows 🤣🤣) drops you off in West Seattle and the Bridge there is out. The detour takes between 17 and up to 57 minutes so far ( last 12 trips).
Chinatown is a must stop, couple places I've been going to for almost 50 years.

The fact that you are in my thoughts and prayers almost goes without saying. With all the times I tore myself up between rodeo and logging I am a very strong believer in the power of both prayer and positive thinking. I will keep praying. You keep thinking positive. My brother who lives in Kingston went through similar treatment except for a rare fast moving prostrate cancer several years ago. He was Sargent in charge of traffic with Seattle PD for a lot of years. If you need hints or ideas for getting around over there I can put the two of you in touch with each other. Maybe a police escort would help lol.

Thanks Dave, I'm approved for a special SDOT pass on the Lower Spokane street Bridge that will save lots of time. Just waiting on SPD to update the list, supposedly on the 15th. Wish they could do it earlier.

Beautiful scenery!! ❤ If you hadn't been on the ferry before... if you throught like a small child how amazing would it be to take a ride on that ferry. Or someone visiting for the first time. Enjoy the ride. Take in all the beautiful scenery and peaceful life before getting in the city.

How did the day go?
Long dang day, on the boat home now. The infusion wasn't too bad but we'll see what happens from here. Tomorrow the ferry doesn't line up with radiation, so I'll take a foor ferry a day walk 2 miles uphill to Virginia Mason. Gains 800ft elevation but it's all sidewalk 🤣
