I dont know if all the figures are accurate but it is an interesting, if not eye opening, read.

A Little Gun History Lesson :

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

---------------------------

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

----------------------------

Guatemala established gun control in 1964.. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

-----------------------------

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

------------------------------

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, thecriminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has change d drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind him of this history lesson.

With Guns.............We Are 'Citizens'.
Without Them........We Are 'Subjects'..

During W.W. II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED !

Note: Admiral Yamamoto who crafted the attack on Pearl Harbor had attended Harvard U 1919-1921 & was Naval Attache to the U. S. 1925-28. Most of our Navy was destroyed at Pearl Harbor & our Army had been deprived of funding & was ill prepared to defend the country.

It was reported that when asked why Japan did not follow up the Pearl Harbor attack with an invasion of the U. S. Mainland, his reply was that he had lived in the U. S. & knew that almost all households had guns.

Don"t know who said it but "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it"I would guess that most of the gun crimes committed in the U.S. are by people who aren't supposed to have guns now.

I am a full believer in gun control. I believe that every able-bodied US Citizen that is not a criminal should be required to have a gun and know how to use it.

That Citizen should have total control of his/her gun. That's how I define gun control.

Crime rates would plummet.....

I don't have any firearms and never will! (remember this is the internet). ;-)

I don't buy it Hoss. I think Washington is too smart for all of this. Besides, our politicians will surely pass a law making it illegal for criminals to have guns. ;-)

Good post Hoss!

Yes, this is the internet and between the covert and overt hackers and operatives anything someone says can be intercepted and/or used against them.

That said,

IMO, Those that believe in their Second Amendment Rights should join the NRA. They continue to need funds to defend the rights of law abiding citizens.

Seems to me that it is a duty for the people to be well armed. Thus insuring a well armed militia, with which to defend themselves against enemies from within, and without.

More than one way to disarm a country. I am a felon can't pocess a firearm i have never used a gun to commit a crime nor have i ever commited a crime that harmed anybody in any way. Am not a thief nor dishonest in any way. There is alot of people just like me.

Very true. You just got caught......

If most people would remember their past correctly, they could see how they could be in your shoes. Very few saints amongst the sinners.

So true. Protect the country against all enemies. Foreign & Domestic

The second amendment was written by people that were scared of the powers that were given to the government. Our founding fathers would be so ashamed of our country today........

Yeah, they are called politicians.

I did what i did and i got caught, i ain't crying about it and i am not proud of it. I have had local law enforcement to ask me to help hunt a big cat that that had escaped from its owner. They all know me and wanted me to help because i knew the area the cat was in really well all knew i was a felon they supplied the weaponfor me. Even though the county sheriff and the local wildlife officer was the ones to ask me to do this i came real close to going back to jail. Won't happen agin.

The Acadians are always missing from that list. The British collected their arms before coming back and deporting them.

Good point backhoe

But try to take a gun from a cajun and see what happens now :)

very good post HOSS. Does anyone know what Obama's take on gun control is? I dont, but i can imagine...

I think it's about time to revive this post. Everyone needs to reread and remember all those countries. Remember if these laws get passed(like the ammunition accountability law), you'll be a felon just by having one bullet that doesn't have the tracing thing they are putting on them.

Not until they convict me will I be a felon. Knowing the county judge here, I'd say fat chance. But if that changes, I still have a shot at a jury - or maybe they'll set me on a jury to try your case.

Now if we become a socialist country and lose the trial and jury part - who knows?

The NRA claims membership is way up and all the radical extremist are not joining for fear they'll be put on the list when we become a socialist country.

It is still against the law to carry wire cutters here in this state.
