There are some like the above at our fair, but I'm glad they are in the minimum. There are some kids that don;t have much interest and you can see that in their behavior and care of the animals. But the majority do put in the time and energy to do a good job. There is one kid we've been watching since he was just getting started in 4H/FFA, so small that he could barely reach his calves back. Now he's graduated and has moved on and is showing in the breed association shows. The vets girls both show market steers but the youngest also does chickens, that's where her heart really is. We're happy to support the fair as best we can and to watch the kids progress.
A little disappointed at the fair board...
