A little cold, a lotta sun.

-28 celcius this morning, bright, sunshiny day. Fed cows and hauled hay home for calving. 800 left to move, might have to call the neighbor!
Ernie tractor got new boots, the ones he came with lasted ten years longer than I thought they would. Had to cowboy with the tracked pony yesterday.

I like winter less and less, but after all the COLD, wet, damp miserable weather we have had, I would welcome a good 1-2 ft snow and cold enough to get the ground hard and stay hard for a month or more.....

It was in the 40'sF here today and pouring rain so I didn't like that either.
I'm like an old dog, I'm waiting for 70F and laying on the porch in the sun.

I've had to move the same snow 8 times in the last 8 days from wind blowing 10" of snow around. Now in the -10* cold snap that will be heading east later this week. Feeding $155 bales of alfalfa was hoping to save til March when we start calving. Hope we get out of the drought this year.

Not quite as cold here only -6F but we have been getting the snow. One minute the sun will be shining the next 6" of snow will fall. Got to be closing in on 130 inches of snow for the season so far.

We don’t ever get that much nor do we need it. I am thinking 2010-11 winter we accumulated about 8 feet but a big thaw in January melted off most of the first four feet.

There is about 2 feet of settled heavy snow here now.

We get a lot of snow here (average is 180 inches), few years ago we were nearly at 300". But being by the big Lake we dont typically get super cold, -15f would be really cold for here. Go inland 40 miles and -30 is common.

About 40" of settled snow on the ground currently.

I don’t even want to think about that much snow. Statistics say we average 9 inches of snow here. Most times it’s 2-3 inches or at least a measurable amount of snow maybe 2 or 3 times and a round or two of just light skiff of snow and most times all of its gone within a day or two.
On occasion there’ll be a prolonged cold spell that’ll keep the snow around for a week or maybe two
Most time our precipitation is cold rain, which makes for cold wet mud.
The worst is when we get an ice event that just makes everything a mess all the way around.

Our average snow fall is 130" - not sure how we are doing as far as average snowfall this year. We get snow - then it rains. We finally got about 10" last week and it lasted to where we still have a little snow cover, but, it insulated the ground, so nothing froze - still all the mud lurking beneath. Miserable weather. Supposed to get cold and STAY COLD.

We generally get just a little as we only average about one inch of precipitation a month. Since early November there has only been about a week that the ground wasn't snow covered. It has been an inch or two at a time and never more than 6 inches. Right now the valley is all melted off. But it turned clear and cold. It was 6 this morning and the high today was 24. It is not forecast to be above freezing until early next week. We probably won't have a night time low above freezing until some time in March.

You should be getting the cold in a day or two that we have had since Saturday and that will be departing from here starting tomorrow. Going from -7* this morning to 25 tomorrow and 40 by Friday. A lot of places in Wyoming are breaking records for the amount of snowfall in January, which is usually one of our driest months. I don't mind some snow, but a 25-30 mph wind just plugs things up. The warm up after a snow always comes with wind. I suppose I will take that over mud all winter though.
