Hay's been of good quality this year, got a lot of feed off of it. And I guess as a result you can say that the nutrition value OF the hay is pretty good, since the calves' coats are nice and clean.

Nope, weather's been a might mild lately.

Not exactly, they're being backgrounded here for about a year, sold to a feedlot, and then sent to a slaughter plant down south.

Karin, you got a good looking place and some good looking cattle. Am very impressed with your hay also. Looks like it is feed quality. Looks like you could teach us a thing or two on baling hay if you had a mind to.

Jo, this year was an excellent growing year for forage, we were lucky to get some real nice sunny days for drying, the right kind of weather seemed to come at the right time. First cutting: 70% grass and 30% alfalfa. Second cutting: 70% alfalfa, 30% grass. :shock: There really isn't much to teach, really...cut hay in mid afternoon with conditioner, let dry for 2-3 days (hope weather doesn't call for rain), rake in mid afternoon, and bale a day later or on the same day as raking was done...pretty simple... ;-)
