The weather was beautiful the other day - temp in mid 20's, sunny and no wind...Cows finished off their hay and some went off grazing while others were sucking up the sun... Cows have been getting about 15-18 lbs of grass/alfalfa hay and about 10 lbs of straw a day since the 1st of January...Still grazing- but the pickings are getting slim...But luckily we've had an easy winter... Last couple of nights have been 20 Below with 50Below chill factor- but the temp is up to 0 now- and supposed to be back in 30's by tomorrow...

Some of the heifer calves kicking up their heels and enjoying the sun....

Someone on one of the sites was questioning running the replacement heifer calves, first calvers, and old cows all together...I've done it for several years now... Here is some of the heifer calves- and they are doing pretty good..

Hey man, I love your cattle. Been in your part of the world. From Sidney to Plentywood. You got to be there somewhere. The horizon on the first picture. Is that the Missouri bluffs in the background? It all looks familiar. Stayed in Miles City a number of times. There is a resturant there with I think a paddlefish mounted on the wall. Do you know the one? Oh, if I could just live for 500 years maybe I could get around again to all the places I have been. Just thinking, maybe that paddlefish was in Sidney. Also, stayed there a few nights.

I'm just south of Glasgow-- in the Milk River Valley just a couple miles west of the mouth of Willow Creek...
No simangs-- heifers are all registered angus....
