I have noticed at auctions that 12' discbines do not sell well. I looked at used NI on Tractorhouse - - and the 12 footers average auction price was about $4,000 less than 9 footers. It also looks like you can buy a 12' NI 5212 discbine for a little less than a 12' NH 499 haybine.

Do the 12' discbines just take too much power for most people to operate, or are there also other drawbacks?

to me the 12ft disc bines take 2 things a 16ft gate or bigger and more hp to pull and run them.but if you got a high hp tractor id buy a bigger discbine.

on both of my new tractors the 540rpms was marked on my rpm meter.so id be thinking theres getting tobe 540 equipment than 1000 but i dont really know.
