Is this a USDA inspected plant? They wouldn't stay open long in this area.
Yes it is USDA inspected, they slaughter the poor cows and bulls and have a contract to sell the meat.Is this a USDA inspected plant? They wouldn't stay open long in this area.
That is their business model. They kill the cows that no one else wants. They get scrub cows from all over the country. They buy them at a deeply discounted rate. They are USDA inspected and as I understand it, USDA guidlines only require that the animal be able to walk off the trailer on their own (and pass the required blood tests).I was saddened my last visit as well. Everything was emaciated. Just flat out heart breaking.

The kill chute at their place is right after they walk off the trailer. You are correct. I know one of the USDA inspectors that worked there (they rotate inspectors to different facilities), and he hated working at that plant. He even told me that he had stopped the processing of some animals that could not make it. We have a large chicken processing plant here also. That same inspector will not eat chicken.I believe they have to walk to the kill chute. Very strict regulations on moving a live down animal.
