80K pounds of meat stolen

If the plant conditions are as described I can't see that getting by the inspectors. There are several that slaughter the low value livestock and they would be a very grim place to work!

How do they transport cattle like that to the plant without a lot of downers? The downers here can not go into the plant. They must walk in on there own even if it is painful and slow.

I guess I must have been rich since I never had to have that last dollar. I found that a bullet was much better for me and the cattle.

Yes, as KT said they do inspect and all they told me was they had to walk off the trailer (I think they do a blood test or whatever the USDA requires). I like to take the cows there because they get it over quick.

I was saddened my last visit as well. Everything was emaciated. Just flat out heart breaking.
That is their business model. They kill the cows that no one else wants. They get scrub cows from all over the country. They buy them at a deeply discounted rate. They are USDA inspected and as I understand it, USDA guidlines only require that the animal be able to walk off the trailer on their own (and pass the required blood tests).

I believe they have to walk to the kill chute. Very strict regulations on moving a live down animal.

The kill chute at their place is right after they walk off the trailer. You are correct. I know one of the USDA inspectors that worked there (they rotate inspectors to different facilities), and he hated working at that plant. He even told me that he had stopped the processing of some animals that could not make it. We have a large chicken processing plant here also. That same inspector will not eat chicken.

I first hand witnessed them pulling one off a 16" trailer 4 or 5 years ago. Maybe he didn't get paid for it tho. But they did take it off the trailer.

Trailer was pulled to the back side, behind the long wraparound alleyway best I recall. Standing on road would be the back left corner ish

I took one a few years ago that had a spot on her eye that looked like early cancer. On the way there it got blooded a little. I ran her off the trailer and the inspector would not allow a tag to be put on her. I left her there and got no compensation. She was probably ready to go downhill. I heard one guy say maybe dog food they would put her in.
