685 Case Ih

Help Support CattleToday:

rnh1, I bought a case IH 885 4 WD with cab and loader. We just use it to feed round bales with.
It seems to start easy, and isn't too hard on fuel.
We had some trouble with the front end out next to the wheels, but I think we got that under control now. It seems to have a very operator- Unfriendly gear pattern in my opinion.
My next loader tractor will have shuttle shift. I don't know if the 685 is much the same as the 885.

My dad has a 695 with MFWD which is a little newer but from the looks of the major components it is largely the same as the 685. He uses it for loader and other utility type work and really likes it. His has a forward/reverse shuttle that still requires the clutch but for loader work it is very handy. It isn't really a "field tractor" but on occasion it has pulled a plow and disk around when needed. Hasn't really had any issues with it in the 5 years that hes owned it.
