Hey all,

I have a bottle calf, angus, mother wouldn't take the calf. It is in good shape, not dehydrated, seems good, just has some fluid on its chest and lungs. It just doesn't seem to get over the slight cough and raspy cough, mainly during the time it takes the bottle. It was born on a bitter cold day, had to bring it in the house to warm it up and got it to eat and it was in good shape.

Been treating it with baytril following the weight treatments they suggest and it just seems like it takes care of things for a day and then it is back to the same symptoms. I have been doing the daily treatment as recommended by the vet 4cc's every 48 hours. for 3 days. doesn't fix it just holds it off for a few days. at around 6 bucks a pop kind of pricy.

I was just seeing if anyone has any other treatment suggestions for me. The odd thing is the calf is in good shape and looks good, eats, just don't like the cough and the raspy sound on the chest during feeding and after that.

Thanks for all the help,

Dave

Is he coughing while he's drinking? is the hole in the bottle too large?
