3 point scoop question

Ever since i was a kid, we used a dirt scoop with the cutting edge aced toward the rear of the tractor, but almost every pic I see of them shows them mounted where you have to back up to fill the scoop. I never tried one reversed and didn't notice till today that there was an extra set of pin mount holes on my old Dearborn scoop.
What's the advantage of using a scoop like this:

Any disadvantages of changing to the reverse method?

You get a pain in the neck looking around reversing into stuff.

Turned backwards, mine makes a decent caddy, and will hold my 25 gallon spot sprayer.
