The fall 2008 Murray Grey internet auction will be held -- to start Sunday, Oct 26th and end the next Saturday, Nov 1st.
The auction site is located at:

http://www.murraygrey.net/cgi-bin/auction.pl

Here is the message I posted on the site:

The 2008 Murray Grey Internet Auction will begin October 26th and close
November 1st, 2008. We expect to have bred and open cows and heifers,
herd sires, and sire prospects—both purebred and cross. Any MGIA
member wishing to participate as sellers should have their photos,
price, and information to Carole Brown NOT LATER THAN October 1st.
Interested persons should register on this site and explore all the features
well in advance of the auction. This software operates much like ebay.
Registered users will receive any up-dated information by email prior
to the auction start. ONE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THIS YEAR'S
AUCTION: There WILL BE an "instant purchase" feature added for each
animal listed for sale. In the past some potential purchasers stated that they
did not want to follow along a number of days until the closing date of the
sale. Therefore, each seller will set a "starting price" and also an "instant
purchase" price to allow a buyer to immediately secure a purchase without
waiting a number of days for the sale to close. We plan to have each animal's
listing to open for sale in 10 minute intervals, and close in the same intervals
at the ending date. If the last bid (which is not an "instant purchase") is placed
a few minutes before the closing time, there is a "sniper protection" feature
which will hold the item open for 15 minutes after the last bid. For questions/further
information contact: Carole Brown – [email protected]. The young
heifer pictured with this announcement was sold in a prior year's auction.

A few "preview" photos of animals to be in the sale are now posted---and a few more will be shown tonight or tomorrow.

In the information you posted regarding the Internet Auction, could you please explain the "sniper protection" clause.

Sniper protection: If a bid is made on an animal in the last few minutes of the scheduled time, the software will hold the item
open and available for another bid for 15 minutes after the scheduled closing time. This is to prevent someone from entering
a bid in the last few seconds and buying the animal in front of someone that had bid earlier....gives everyone a chance to
bid as high as they decided was their limit.
