My son just traded in his 2009 Chevy 2500 4x4 6.0 gas for a low miles 59K 2008 Dodge 2500 4x4 diesel and this morning it has a puddle of antifreeze under it. He tightened hose clamps but thinks the lower seam in the radiator is leaking. Has anybody had trouble with the factory radiators leaking? The dealership where he bought the truck said they would look at it and hopefully repair it...I hope they do since he has bought two trucks from them.

2008 -2500 is not on recall list.the recalls were not terminal issues. Pinion nuts, tierods, software problems. People that hate Dodge don't know their azz from a hole in the ground.

Lol

A little defensive aren't we?

No just advising op that taking advise from non Dodge owners is like inviting Isis to supper. Retarded IMO

My son had to replace the radiator, water pump, and heater core before 75,000 miles on his 08 3500. I think his is just a lemon as the fuse panel melted twice at $900 a pop.

I own just about every brand. Not a Chevy out there right now but I just sold one. two dodges, a Ford, a Toyota and a Nissan right now. All about the same, each has its good and bad.

The leaks between the radiator core and tanks are fairly common on all vehicles these days and not a big deal. Can often be fixed with bars leak. But that may not be for you. I'd stay away from dealership unless their going to warranty it. I recently replaced the double cored radiator in the Ford with a rebuild from a radiator shop. For 275.00. Including antifreeze. About a hours work with air tools

Wasn't there a complete buy back for the emissions deal on the 08-12s? Pretty sure I got a letter from chrysler.

2008- 2500 4x4 was a suspension recall (tie rods) correction

◾2009 Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen (production dates between 1/3/08 and 12/18/08)
◾2009–2012 Dodge/Ram 1500 (2/27/08 and 6/30/09, and 12/1/09 and 10/20/11)
◾2009–2001 Dodge Dakota (2/27/07 and 6/30/09, and 12/1/09 and 9/30/11)
◾2008–2012 Dodge/Ram 2500 and 3500 4×4
◾2008–2012 Dodge/Ram 2500 4×2 chassis cabs
◾2008 Dodge/Ram Mega Cab 4×4
◾2008–2012 Dodge/Ram 4500 and 5500 (2/20/07 and 12/31/12)

10-14 cab chassis had emission issues

all of these defects are repairable and the trucks can be resold.

The buy back was for the steering components. I know two welders who lost steering going down the highway with less than 50K mi.

The reason I said those trucks are trouble is my 10 was in the shop for over 2 months for emissions problems, on top of the sensors, recalls, ect. It had around 70K mi. I'm still fighting with the dealer over that deal. Chrysler is trying not to pay them for warranty, they want to pass that to me, and I'm not paying for the rental they were suppose to pay for. I was never so glad to get rid of that truck.

All manufacturers have their lemons.. Ford had the 6.0, duramax engines had injector tips that would fall off and destroy a lot of stuff, Toyota had the fly-by-wire problems, and now VW has a pretty good recall too, and I can't remember which manufacturer it was (chrysler?) that had the key go into lock while driving.. so it comes down to which ones you're going to pick on...

Now the dealer should be taking care of that radiator leak without a doubt, and nevermind if Chrysler reimburses them for it or not. That said, I had a new (aftermarket) radiator in my truck, and the end tanks leaked.. I took it out and went along the crimps with a vice grip to squeeze it just a little more and it never gave me any more problems

I've got an '08 with almost 200,000 miles on it. Never turned a tap on anything so far. Good truck.
