2 yr Angus bull - what do you think?

I suspect those numbers are batch codes, rather than bull codes. There are over 350 Shalom Ol bulls listed in the database, you'd need a number like 153/06 behind the name. It'd be worth finding out for such active semen!

The batch code is listed separately. I've got the 07 despatch docket from LIC in front of me, not sure where the 08 one is, but the information for those bulls was written in the mating detail book.
As far as I know that's a standard bull code - 7 denotes breed, 05 year and 179 is the bull's individual assigned number. In this case the '7' might simply mean beef for all I know, I'd be surprised if all the breeds were delineated that way.
Ack, I just checked the Alpha nominated catalogue. The various beef sires begin 5 6 or 7, but Kiwicross and Ayrshire are also coded that way.

We've had an inch of rain since last night :D

Putangitangi : I'm checking which cows need preg diagnosed right now, and found those bull codes in my MINDApro programme. It's in 'all recorded matings', last page - don't know if that's useful to anyone other than a dairy farmer using Mindapro but anyway...

705004 - Te Mania 304 AB
707026 - Shalom Waigroup Ol 164/05
706009 - SWO 5/04 AB
705179 - SWO 2/04 AB

Maybe LIC can explain some day why they're also allocated dairy BWs (Breeding Worth).

Nope. I googled up that database you mentioned but didn't have enough information to use it then (a few days ago).

LIC are generally good at responding to e-mails about their bulls. But I don't understand why they'd not have the full name on the despatch sheet as all the dairy bulls have their full names listed.
It's just by chance I found this information - I think they may have included it when they updated the programme last year - and it's retrospective, tells you what you've used on your cows. Bit late to find out, you'd think.
