Any ideas on the problem with a 2 month old calf that acts like its stomach is hurting and looks like he is trying to use the bathroom alot.

And when he does it is kind of whitish in color.

He stopped nursing for a day, but went back.

Any help appreciated.

Are you aware of possible plant items that can be toxic to cattle? I had similar trouble with a young heifer a month or so ago and couldn't figure out what it was. I gave her a shot of LA200 out of ignorance. I eventually came to the conclusion that she ate something in the pasture that didn't agree with cattle. Later found some Lantana on the fencline and dug it up. She's doing backflips now.

Calf died couple of days ago... when cut into to check out, found that lining under hide around navel was black, and it extended up into his intestines some...

Would not have known by looking because there was no swelling.. not saying this killed him but that is what was found.

Any ideas of what that may have been??

Also, calf was closer to 3 months old instead of 2 as originally posted.

Thanks
