I have actually heard the term California widow. My grandmother used it talking about the navy wives we knew when we lived near NAS Lemoore. Whenever sailors were coming back from a long trip there would be a huge uptick in domestic violence calls from California widows/navy wives trying to break up and kick their boyfriends out of their home before hubby got home.

I like my sons word he came up with a couple weeks ago. Sponventurous. He and his girl decided to go to New Orleans for a weekend jazz fest or something like that. Last vacation weekend since he just closed on his house on the 30th!
