    Getting some snow

Our cold front of snow and negative teens lasted 3 days and then stopped. Today my truck says 39 degrees and raining. Most of the snow and ice is almost gone. Just mud and water everywhere now. I'm not sure mother nature knows what it wants to do. 🤷

    Getting some snow

I bought a magnetic one last year and put a 20 degree cube on it and it works good. I think almost better than the block heater.

    Getting some snow

Only one tractor would start today, but the win stopped, so I'll take it. Supposed to be a heat wave starting next week (33-39 degrees) go figure. If it gets that warm I guess I'll go back to finish building the fence I started before winter decided to showed up.

    Getting some snow

Thanks, but I still think your -40 is way to cold. I'd have to stick my hands in your water trough to keep them warm.🤣 We are hoping we don't loose any calves. We calve out on the ground, no barns to move into. Normally throw calves in the truck to warm them up. They do have willows and brush...

    Getting some snow

And here im worried about -25F and 40-50mph winds over the next 24hrs. That's just a summer breeze compared to what some of you guys are dealing with. 🥶🤣

    Getting some snow

That's good news. Never had issues with the cable but did squirt Pam on it and down the guide tube at the beginning and end of ever year. Neighbor has an old Age Way (before Tube Line) and has done nothing to it at all. It's starting to rust rust out in places but still works fine. I can't...

    Getting some snow

Chains on the hydraulic motors would just jump off, regardless of how tight they were. Table split valve would just stop working so couldn't raise or lower the table to feed out a bale or the work the back forks. We would put new chains on, new hydraulic valves and even changed the hydraulic...

    Getting some snow

Looks like your unroller is still working great. Mine had so many issues we decided to sell it and I'm back to the old 3pt. I was hoping to buy a Hustler (same as Tubeline) this year, but dealer and I couldn't come to an agreement on price. Glad to see yours is holding up. 👍

    Cattle Expansion Funding

Using credit is good and bad depending on the need. I have worked with the same bank for the last 12yrs and my father worked with the same bank for 20yrs before that. They know our operation and know cattle/farm risks. 4yrs ago we decided to expand and put in a new pivot and mainline. The banker...

    aggressive mommas

I have a very late calver that I should have sold as bred, but decided to calve her out. Well she finally calved on the 4th of July(heifer calf) but she is so hot we can't even walk by the corral and glance her way and she is on the fence wanting to take you. She was always pretty calm but now...

    Calf table and castrating

Update, Ok, so today we branded calves. I borrowed a neighbor's table to try to see how we'd like it. Worked cows first, went smooth as usual, then slid the table in place and loaded up the alleyway. I think we got through 10 calves and said the neck with and just went to throwing calves. 20x...

    Calf table and castrating

I was browsing the old inter-web while it's kinda of a slow day and ran across a CT made by realtuff. Anyone use or have experience with it?

    Calf table and castrating

Thanks for info on the Filson. The only calf table I have ever been around is a power river and calves were squirlly in it as well and we had to hold back legs for branding not to mention it was awkward for cutting.

    Calf table and castrating

Anyone use a Filson calf table, that would be my 2nd choice I think since it will do up to 400lbs, so they advertise. Don't have dealers for either one of the calf tables, so have to order blindly.

    Calf table and castrating

I have an arrow that squeezes down to hold the smaller calves (350lbs), just hard to casterate or brand them on the rib since they aren't as long as a cows/bulls. So you have to open the side door to get a good brand which sometimes work and sometimes doesn't. Prefer to rope them, but sometimes...

    Calf table and castrating

Thanks for the info. I like being able to access the whole calf especially during castration. Do you think it would hold a 350lb calf? Most calves would be in the 30-90 window, but I do have a small fall herd as well and sometime due to weather they don't get worked as soon as we'd like, so they...

    Calf table and castrating

I know this post is over a year old but was wondering if you have used this style of table? If so, Pros, Cons?

    Fsa idemity program...need advise!!

I have my cattle covered under my ranch insurance policy. Only covers if a car hits one, or natural disasters, lightening, etc. If a calf or cow just flop over dead, nothing happens. However, if it's an expensive bull or a couple of vet certified bred heifers that die, I can call and make a...

    Fsa idemity program...need advise!!

I wouldn't waste the time and paperwork for one calf, but that's just me. But for sure just tell them what happened, be better off in long run.

It's says it 30 degrees here right now with more snow coming and 25-40 miles wind gusts. I'm won't complain, you guys are having it rough right now with those cold temps. Stay warm and I hope you guys can keep the water flowing and tractors running.
