    Ultra Saber Pour On ?

Lice came back from hatching eggs that were laid before pouron was applied is my guess. Pouron killed adults and fly tags killed lice that hatched from previously laid eggs. Has kept cows lice free all winter.

    Ultra Saber Pour On ?

Have had good lice control using several different pouron insecticides plus a cheap permethrin fly tag. Pouron kills adults when treated and fly tag kills what later hatches from eggs.

    5/8" needle for subq injections

Went to beef cattle workshop put on by extension service. Had a chuteside demonstration of proper way to work calves done by vet. For subq injections vet recommended using a 5/8" long needle, inserting it straight into side of neck without tenting. Said that was his favorite way to do subq. On...

    Mineral

Bob maybe mix 2 bags mineral with 1 bag of salt and see what consumption does. Then adjust the ratio accordingly.

    Zip Bandit

I just clamp onto end of band opposite from clip. It is just a handle for the right hand to grip when stretching and latching band.

    Zip Bandit

Have a small set of vice grip pliers that I clip on the end of the band to use as a handle. With them can pull band tighter, especially with sweaty hands. Banded and slit a few thousand head over the years and never had a case of tetanus. I give a single shot of tetanus toxoid at same time I band.

    Zip Bandit

Make 2 slits, one into each nut. I try to cut into each nut a little as the deeper the cut the quicker they dry up and fall off. Use a hook blade scalpel and make 2 quick cuts, inch or 2 long. Main thing is to cut thru scrotum so nuts can dry out quicker.

    Zip Bandit

What ever bander you use, if you will slit the scrotum after applying the band, the nuts will dry up and fall off in half the time of unslit. FWIW, my preference is the California bander. Been cheaper and easier for me to use.

When is a Bull Calf too big to band?

It lets the cord and nuts dry out, fall off and heal up in half the time of unslit. I started slitting years ago after watching an 800 lb bull that had been banded a couple of weeks walking around with dried out leather sack dangling from just the cord. Seems the sack turns to leather and slows...

When is a Bull Calf too big to band?

Never! Have banded many 1000+ lb bulls with California bander. Will dry up and fall off in half the time if slit sack open right after band applied and yes, give tetanus toxoid at same time.

    warts on cow

Crush/pull off a few warts with pliers. This will cause a little bleeding, which is needed to get the wart virus into their blood system so immune system can then attack other warts. If want to can cut off other warts while in the chute. Either way over a few months the warts should die and...

    Large Hanging Tumor on Heifer

My SWAG is warts but pictures would help. If warts, crush/pull off a couple with pliers causing some of the virus to get into the blood stream. This will allow the immune system to attack and kill the remaining warts. Can cut/pull off the others if you want. Warts treated this way usually die...

    Excenel

Excede is same active ingredient antibiotic but but longer acting. With Excede 1 shot lasts a week. Have used it a lot for mass treating incoming peewee stocker calves. Works well for that. Normally treat calves with respiratory infections with Zactran and if calf really sick give both Zactran...

It has standardized feed analysis values for many different feed ingredients. Use spreadsheet to run various supplement mixes to use with the stalk bales until you find a...

    Medi-Dart crossbow

Have put a lot of Noromycin thru the Medi-Dart, all with the sideport needle. It's the only needle have ever used. Never tried Nuflor but have used Baytril, Zactran and Hexasol. Would think sideport needle should work better with thick meds than regular needles, as it has 2 ports on opposite...

    Medi-Dart crossbow

I have one and it works well as long as need to give 10cc or more. Best to drive within 20 ft in truck or utv to take shot even if can walk that close. Don't want animals associating you with getting darted. Suggest getting a side port needle that gives subq injections.
