Max price on a Bull for commercial use

Lol yes I understand. We aren't hung up on the black craze. Never was. We don't sell for a penny less than the "all black" groups. And thanks for the compliment. We sure have enjoyed him he is dog gentle, eat out of you hand. Calves are the same. Heifers are like dang pets by the time we put a...

Max price on a Bull for commercial use

First pic is sire ($4000 bull) last 2 pics of calves retained and sold at approx 15-18 months. Sold each bull for $2000 and have sold others to same folks. Sire is registered (99% GV) bull calves are 50/50 balancers.

Max price on a Bull for commercial use

We decided several years back to retain 3-4 of the best bulls from Spring and Fall calving herds. I've often pondered this subject and no one really had a good enough answer for me as far as what it should cost when running commercial cows. So I did a little experiment started retaining a few...

    Last calf of 2019

Good looking crew. Those unexpected losses seem to happen every year. We used the CIDR implants on a group of heifers this year and from the looks of it the bull cleaned up the vast majority the first week. Good luck.

    Gelbvieh heifer.

Love that gal! We have been bull heavy in our Fall calving group for 3 years now, but our Spring group is about 80/20 heifers to bulls. Odd, but everyone is healthy and doing well! Thanks for sharing the pic

To hold them or sell them ...

Not quite 600# we did early wean them to relieve the cows. We left heifers on cows (we retain them). Market here for the calf weight I have would bring about $930/hd. Looking at last year mid October sales would bring $1250-$1350 depending on gain. I understand what your saying about the thin...

To hold them or sell them ...

Jan, We also usually sell may/June calves that were born in Oct/Nov. We are good on hay and have several open pastures that we will rotate cows in and out some. But I have a section that I could put them on and they wouldn't really touch all the grass by fall. I could still put bulls or cows in...

To hold them or sell them ...

Good morning all. I wasn't sure where to put this, but here goes. We have a group of steer and heifer calves from a fall herd we weaned recently(we always keep our heifers). We typically wean the steer, get them straight and sell them. We have had a drier winter than most and now are getting...

    Docility.

We don't necessarily pet on our cows/calves, but our Gelbvieh and balancer calves are just dog gentle. Wean with little to no bawling and heifer pastures are almost silent.

    Yearling Balancer Bulls pics.

I understand. Our BWs are very close on our bulls every year. If I had to choose it would be #4. He is more put together in the rump and front shoulders to me. He's a solid bull. I agree 3 looks good but 4 would be the pic if I had to pick today and cull the rest. How do you feed them from...
