November/December Photo contest - Christmas / Holiday photos

No Santa hats here, far too hot.
  2. Putangitangi

    Contest - 'Mud'

I don't think I ever saw that one!

    December contest

Spring has been slightly tricky, dry and cold for longer than we like but it's warmed up a lot now and there's been regular rain, so things are pretty relaxed. Helps if you stock slightly lower numbers too. Feels like summer is just about to begin. :D

    December contest

    8) I'll think of you as we commence our summer, hot and fine and anticipating days around the pond in the shade with friends and family.

    Winner - 'Sunrise/Sunset'

That was such a gorgeous picture and beautifully executed! Well done Nesi!

    Contest - 'Sunrise/Sunset'

The max size of the auto-cropping thing seems to be 640px only on the width. So in the last comp there were 600x800 pictures, i.e. the auto-cropping max didn't do anything to the height. It matters because the resizing programs always stuff up the pixels! Better to do it before submission...

    Contest - 'Sunrise/Sunset'

    640x480 is landscape. :)
  8. Putangitangi

    Winner - 'Night Time'

While few of you were impressed, this is my favourite night photo to date. I've not been able to get another quite as nice. I think it's magical that all those colors are actually there, if only our eyes could see them. The moon was bright, hence the sharp sun-like shadows cast. Southern...

    Contest - 'Breakfast'

Can we see a picture of the eater when you post the results? :D
  10. Putangitangi

    Winner - 'Hand'

I like the colour version of the winning pic (congratulations!). Skin tones of every hue are lovely.

    Poll - 'Hand'

"Docking" some people for having a baby would solve the population problem! :-D

    Poll - 'Hand'

Conversely, hideous emotional manipulation! And look, it's worked!
  14. Putangitangi

    Contest - 'Cow Dung'

    Well, I'll have to now!
  15. Putangitangi

    Winner - 'Showers'

There's only one of those pink and grey terrors in this neighbourhood. The Eastern Rosella on that link, are resident here and fly around in noisy small flocks. Most of the native parrots have been wiped out by introduced mammals.

    Winner - 'Showers'

    Noisy, dusty, sharp, demanding ...
  17. Putangitangi

    Winner - 'Showers'

Well, in that case ... :)

    Winner - 'Showers'

Oh come on, she was having a shower! She's an Australian Rose Breasted Cockatoo or Galah. There are lots here as pets. I inherited her. Showers are hard to see in pictures. Great photos everyone, this was fun. :)
  19. Putangitangi

    Poll - 'Winds'

I thought you'd all have hurricanes, tornadoes and other impressive pictures so didn't put my little gale picture in. Wrong call!

I don't have a picture of it and neither does my nephew, except in his memory, which he recounted to me one day when he was about 10, a moment from a few years before, which I was surprised he remembered at all. I'd called to him, hey Louie, catch! Naturally he did: a shrivelled scrotum, where...
