Best Solar Fence Charger for the Cost

Any good 12v fence charger + any 12v battery + 5watt solar panel. I have had much better results putting together the components separately than the self contained units. Can use larger panels but they will require a charge controller so as not to over charge. I had one that ran uninterrupted...

    Old Tire in Hay Ring

I had a old tractor tire laying around close to a hay ring and just decided to put it flat on the ground inside the ring and put the hay on top. Seems like the cattle may clean up the hay a little better. Anyone else ever try this?

    plastic fence posts

I have used a few of these for electric fence and found one problem. The ones I used are not very solid in the center (honeycomed?) so I had a problem with weak power on fence and determined that the 20D nail I used to hook the gap handle on went in the post deep enough to contact the moisture...

Gasoline rag and cranking a diesal

Back in '79/'80 I worked on a huge earthmoving job (Tombigbee Waterway). In the winter the only thing they would use to help start the equipment on a cold day was the gas soaked rag trick. I don't remember any problems with the engines overrevving. Just pull the rag away as soon as it fires off...

    Cleaning your baler

I don't try to clean everything from around the bearings for that reason. Mainly use the pressure washer for the sheet metal.

    Solar Fencer

I've started using Parmark or similar 12v charger with any decent battery and a separate solar panel that can be moved to other locations to charge their battery. Have one that has been running since early spring off a lawn mower battery and small Harbor Freight solar panel. Moved the cattle out...

    Cleaning your baler

Have done that too until someone else decided they needed my blower worse than I did. I usually just take it outside the shop and use a long stemmed nozzle hooked to the air compressor. When done for the year I blow it off then use the pressure washer to clean it up better. Oil the chains...

    Solar Fencer

After using several of the Gallagher and other top name solar fencers I now use the inexpensive 12v fence chargers with any 12v battery and an inexpensive solar panel. It is more economical to use separate components than the self contained units. The ones I have used in the past had batteries...

    Wild steer help

Have done this a few times in the past but now they won't take dead beef but will process a dead deer. Make sense? Got one now that may get turned into buzzard meat since noone will process it. This one wolld not be very good to eat anyway.

    Need some temporary corral ideas

Used some round bales a few years ago. Was not good hay and just left them stacked out in front of the barn. Third year the cattle started eating them and ate the corral.

    T-Post Insulators

Have used 1 1/2"? PVC pipe for some applications (corners. sharp turns ect.) wire ties to fasten. Have also used wire ties on damaged insulators.

    burning piles

Years ago I worked for a contractor who bought a pile burner consisting of a 25hp engine with a small airplane prop a 55 gal drum and pump to spray a stream of diesel. This thing would get a pile of fresh cleared green wood burning. His son is still in business and still has the machine but...

    hay bales as panels

Have also done this on a temp. basis.Stack rolls close to barn, work or separate cattle, put hay back in barn. The cattle seem easy to handle because the hay poses no threat to them and they cant see through them.

    hay bales as panels

We had several round bales that were very poor quality (dirty grass from flooding). Stacked them outside barn two runs high and used them as sides of corral or holding area. They worked great for two years. This fall the cows began eating on some of the rolls and now the corral is gone. Didn't...
