    Vermeer Balers

I have a almost new 505 Super I. It has baled about 2500 bales. Nice baler. The nagging problem I have been experiencing is a belt will twist on occasion. Usually the two small ones but, have had the left large one twist also. Any thoughts as to why?

......... "I can feed that during the second trimester and the cows do fine on it. I only need high quality hay during the last trimester, and we calve on grass. If I feed really good hay all winter I have fat cows, unless we severely limit-feed"... =========== Fargus, What kind of hay do you...

    Baling cornstocks

Will..., Our experiments so far has been with Pro-Lix..made by Westway. It has ..oh..30%+ protein with mollasses..in bulk form. I believe it is the same mix used in the round plastic protein feeder units. Cows seem to like it. Rudy's Farm Supply in Kevil, KY., ask for Jack. I am sure you...

    pearl milliet

Guys around here like it. We did acreage this last June and it got up about 15" and stopped... with very small heads. Haven't decided to cut it yet. Most likely the nirates are high....because of the drought. Anyone have any ideas as to it being ok in that condition?

    Baling cornstocks

We round baled 160 bales with plans to inject them with protein and molasses rendering them more palatable with reasonable nutrition levels. It was our first time and we were concerned but, the Vermeer Super I baler did an excellent job after cutting with a bush hog mower to chop the stalks...

    Old Hay Rake

Actually the rake was used for making wind rows and then the rake was used to go down the rows and ...SHOCK...(pile of hay)the hay by dumping ......about every 30-40 feet depending on how thick the hay was. Then two guys...one on each side of the shock... using hay forks....would pick up the...

    Old Hay Rake

Yep. Been there and done that. Just don't get your foot under the trip pedal and the frame. It hurts...a lot. Where is the seat and tongue? Is it an Ideal?..or McCormick?

    Turnips into winter?

A hard freeze will cause the tops to wilt and fall over. The cows will eat them however. Have a neighbor that sows 15-20 acres annually.... for fall/winter grazing. He says they grow well and the animals like them. He suggest adding dry forage/feed with the controlled grazing. We plan to do...

    JD netwrap balers

We just completed 120 bales of stalks...given to us by a cash cropper in exchange for 5 breedings later this fall. The Kuhn disc mower laid 'em down. The..... 8 wheel Vermeer rake......... WILL rake the stalks. (some have questioned that..and we didn't know) Our... Vermeer Super I baler...

    Out of Pasture

============== Hayes..., Hang in there. ..tough. Concluding that the cows bred back, taking a hit on the body score of 1 to 1-1/2 should not hurt. You may have smaller calves next. But, part of the price to pay. I would pull the calves off...now. TRY to keep the cows in as good of body...

    JD netwrap balers

============== TSR, Did you first cut the standing stalks with a disc mower..or just rake and bale what the harvester dropped? What style of rake did you use? Some say a wheel rake won't rake stalks.

Should I cut my hay field

We change bearings on the Ford 4600 each year. With the bucket they just will not hold up. Less work/cost than replacing spindles.

===================== Nowland..., Care to share the analysis. Not trying to verify your hay quality. Should we ever get around to testing it we can have a comparison. As they say in merry old England....Good show.
