Sold 7 calves yesterday. 5 blk/bwf steers weaned since Thanksgiving, 2 round shots 697 lb average, brought $1.50 lb, $1045.00 hd. 2 Heifers RWF/BWF, RWF weaned 45 days, BWF 120 days,2 rds,465 average, $1.64 lb, $762.60 hd. Thought was good, I'm happy so I guess that's what matters.

About right for what middle of the road heifers are bringing here.

How did it work out?

200-300 running at Farmington,Mo. Of course depends on health, breed,color, etc.

Going to use nurse cows. Have a three year old Jersey used for one extra calve last year and two others to have first calves this year, have to see how they bag up, and another younger sister to be bred this year. Gonna retire in a year or so, so I'll have some extra time. Some beef breeds...

Had some 3 and 4 year old three in one pairs that brought right at 2300. Most stayed between 1300 to 1800. Had some old bred that only brought 600. some might have been worth taking a chance on, wasn't in too bad a shape.

Could be helpful, But it is still a guess. have bought second stage that had a calf two weeks later. But could help decide about to keep or sell.

Yes, I was there, but didn't get there until a couple of hours after it started. I saw some that were probably yours, remember cause they were so big, seems they were tagged as 1 second and 2 third stage. I believe they came through about 4:00. There were only 1 other little bunch that I saw...

Agreed, Dealing with public can be a real pain in the a** sometimes. My butcher told me a story of someone calling to buy a hog and when he asked for cutting instructions the guy said just make it all into pork chops. He told him he wished it was that easy.

I just sold two that I raised and fed for 3.50 a lb straight across. I paid all fees, all they have to do is pick it up. These were fed in my lot for 60 days, grain and hay only, dry lot no grass.

It was held on the farm down by Advance. They sold the whole farm, equipment, cattle, everything. Cattle advertised as being born and raised on the farm, said the man was a hard culler, cow didn't do good, cow didn't stay.
