Hmmm ... I hope that this sort of request is one of the purposes of this board. Let me know if not and I'll yank it down ...

Looking for feeder calves in Utica, NY

Greetings all, I'm looking to buy 4-6 angus/angus cross feeder calves for our place up here in central NY? I can have them picked up in the next week or so. Specially, we're near the village of Poland, ~20 miles north of Utica. Thanks much, JR

JD 272 finish mower; gear box leaks

Thanks, Dun. I'm not sure I understand, though. Why would you need to replace seals if you put a non-ventilated plug in?

JD 272 finish mower; gear box leaks

Greetings all, Thinking that it would do a better job on my 2 acres or so of lawn than my Bush Hog, I bought a 1980s model John Deere 272 finish mower. It's a pretty big unit (for my lawn which has lots of obstacles) but, if I drive slow and keep the deck height right, it does a pretty good...

How to fix a galvanized stock tank?

Hi all, Having determined here (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=72042) that my new pump was working, I went out today and saw that I have a leak in my 300 gallon stock tank. I took some clear silicon and tried to patch it up but it didn't work. What's the best way to fix it? Tanks JR

Cows get out, visit pond; neighbor threatens to shoot them!

I have to say I disagree with you both. I went over the next day, had a fairly nice chat with the wife (not sure how it would have gone with the guy). She knows me; I know her. She's got my numbers. We know each other a little bit now. Perhaps a start toward becoming neighbors in the best...

    New gas-powered water pump: siphoning

Checked on it twice today; both times there was water in the tank; seems that everything is fine and my pump is not back siphoning. Thanks.

    New gas-powered water pump: siphoning

Okay, that's good to know. It "shouldn't" be back siphoning. I guess I'm going to do some testing tomorrow ;-)

    New gas-powered water pump: siphoning

Yesterday I bought a 150 gallon/minute 2" Pacer water transfer pump for pushing water from my brook to the back of my property. I used the pump at noon today to fill up my 300 gallon stock tank; when I went back about 6pm the tank was empty. I didn't think anything of it (it has been VERY hot)...

Cows get out, visit pond; neighbor threatens to shoot them!

Cattle are sometimes very surprising. This Friday night, for instance, (the day the cows got into the neighbors pond), Lily (the best mother of all my cows), stayed up until 4am bellowing every couple of minutes for its calf (which was on the other side of the brook, and up a steep, brush...

Cows get out, visit pond; neighbor threatens to shoot them!

Hi all, I went over to talk to them earlier. He was taking a nap (recently had a hip replacement surgery) but spoke with his wife who was quite pleasant. I apologized again and offered to fix the pond, but she declined. I went to look at the pond and the "damage" was virtually non-existent...

Cows get out, visit pond; neighbor threatens to shoot them!

Hi Waldershrek, I'm waiting on a call back from the St. troopers now. You're in C. NY too; have you had an experience with a situation like this? Or have you ever seen any codes/laws that address this?

Cows get out, visit pond; neighbor threatens to shoot them!

I've been googling "new york livestock laws" and similar searches but haven't found anything.
