    New Chain Saw

I like mine. I have two. I second the chaps. They were under $120. My co-pay at the ER a month ago was $200. The final bill was about $1,200. If you love her, get yourself some chaps.

    Indiana's Turn

Now who here whould not eat venison style fajitas. It's not the big things on the floor that I can see that bother me. It's the microscopic things that I cannot see.

anyone else think their dad is really smart

I don't have my dad but I quote him and consult with him just about every day. He could be tough when he had to be, but he sure was fun too. "Tear it up..." :)

    Starting a small Ranch

Dustin, Looks like a good plan to get started in your continuing education. I am learning that not all heifers are keepers. Best wishes.

    Head Gate vs. Hip Gate

How not to use the cattle chute. Last night I ran a little bull into the chute to castrate. One side of the automatic head gate did not close all of the way. The calf got through until he hip locked. I was able to latch the other side without too much stress on the calf for the short time I...

    Shame

There is a hole in my knowledge bucket. I read as fast as I can but I forget it faster than I retain it. I have to admit that I remember from experiences better then I remember from reading. I think beginners too, need to post their new found knowledge once in a while. It may help...

Doctor wants to put a castrate band

Didn't someone offer that an ear tag remover could be used? I'll be glad to help but your going to have to stand still while I get the dart gun cross hairs on you. Good luck.

    Bow hunting

I have the plane old pins that came with the bow that was given to me. I like to use only one now set at 20 yards. If I have to shoot closer or further, I adjust. The more stuff you have on the bow, the more things that can and will go wrong. Have fun. Shoot lots.

    High-tensile fence question

I have only used the slip on connectors. I prefer two on the ends and three if splicing. I keep a tool belt loaded with installation and repair items and an eight foot coil of HT wire to splice in when needed...like when cars go though the fence. I am open to better ideas and I'm now considering...

    nonmilking hiefer

I have a heifer that does not appear to have much of an udder. She is raising a very nice calf that appears to be getting plenty of groceries and always has a white face at feeding time. Our calves are not supposed to have white faces except at feeding.:) I have followed the advice of many of...

    AI survey

I did not vote. I am using my vet-friend-mentor as the first offense. I am the second string. After Doc AI's I follow one time for the practice. Last Friday evening, Doc bred a heifer that was in standing heat in the morning. The heifer was still standing later Friday evening after being AI'ed...

    Nutrition

I would have to say the same about mine. On the other hand, I think that I am personally getting too much protein.
