Thank you dun, I'll get it done now and tighten later if needed. Our temps at night are low 30's high 20's.

    If you could start over

knowing what I know now, I would of started younger when the hay bales were lighter. Always had horses, raised goats and dogs.... But I get so much joy now being around my few Dexters.

    Cold temps and wire?

I'm ready to have 4' field fence wire pulled over 500'. The posts are 4" rounds set in concrete every 10'. I've been told that if you stretch it in the cold temps, it will sag and become loose in the warmer temps. Is this true? Should I wait? Thank you.

    Graining

The only negetive I have heard was that too much barley was bad for their foot wall.

Dexter bull and Dexter steer buddy

Greetings, thought I'd add an undated picture of Dusty my bull, now nine months old and the new friend I got for him, four months old. It's amazing how much calmer my bull is now. Enjoy. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/ ... 0_0079.jpg

    Minature Holstein

I have a Dexter bull, and pondered that idea of getting a dairy cow to put with him. Haven't given up the thought, just the few I've seen are much taller than he is?

    Rain Rot

I used full strengh listerine (kills germs). Put it in a spray bottle and dampen the area. If you have removed some of the crusts to expose the raw skin, then it will be a little ouchie. I always had good luck with it.

    Friendly bull

O.K., I will take this 'special time' advice to heart and be a lot more careful around him. Thank you for being so open about this. You folks are great.

    Friendly bull

D.R. Cattle you said: Ever wonder if bulls get a wiff of a woman there's a possibility that similar smells may be detected as in a cycling brood? I asked that same question to a Simmi breeder this year, when I got my bull. He said "no." I have also been told by horse breeders this is danger...

    Friendly bull

I have been touchy feely with my eight month old Dexter bull since I got him at four months old. I don't feed him by hand, grain and treats are from bucket. I can touch him anywhere and pick up his front feet (still working on the back). But if I have the bucket in my hand, I'd better be...
