    Starting a Heifer

When they get home from school, they go out and rinse and work hair, then tie with their heads up until they feed in the evening.

    Starting a Heifer

This calf had the halter put on for the first time 8 days ago. She’s leading around like she’s been in the pen for a couple months.

    Who’s Still Here?

The other one was pretty similar but was banned in 06. This has been the only one since.

    Who’s Still Here?

I feel like with our easily triggered society, it would be enticing to post with some anonymity.

    Who’s Still Here?

This board sure died off over the years.

    Starting a Heifer

Quickest way to break one is to let them drag the halter around for a week, then tie them in the barn where they can lay down. Feed and water tied for a couple days, then start trying to lead them to feed and water. If they don’t want to go, tie them back and try again later. Doesn’t take very...

Last year for the 5.9L Cummins

07 was the last year for them, but the sticker on the side of your valve cover said 325/600. The 305/555 came in the 03.5-04.5. The autos came with a 250/500 until 04.5.

    My animals.

The steer should have weighed over 1300. A heifer with that frame size should weigh 15-1600. I wasn't directing anything towards the lamb.

    our cattle

Whole dang barns full of poor cattle.

    My animals.

It's good that your spending plenty of time with them, but you need to find someone who knows what they're doing and have them get you on a feed plan. Those calves need feed and lots of it.

should I market him as a 4H project steer?

Keyword local show. We hauled nationwide. My local show was for getting rid of calves we didn't take to a major or brought back home from one. I had fun hauling calves across the country. 50 shows in a year was normal if not more. I had to be competitive at a national level, not a local level. I...

should I market him as a 4H project steer?

About 60 miles south of Dallas.

should I market him as a 4H project steer?

I wish our market was as nice as yalls. Around here your lucky to find a decent calf for close to market. Even the guys that sell at the sale barn will bust you if they catch a whiff of it being a show calf. A decent calf here will start at about $1500, and good calf between $3500 and $7000 and...
