I built one back in’08 for the farm I used to herdsmen for.
16’ railroad ties for the posts. Treated 2x8’s for the sides, two 1/2” bolts at every overlap.
Rail road ties for the floor with 2x2x1/4 angle iron for the cleats.
The floor rotted out and I replaced it with 3x12’s
It was only about...
Wait;
so some goats have two tits,
some have four,
and some have many many more?
Sorry I couldn't help myself 🙄
Very interesting though. I thought all goats like sheep only had two.
Sounds like they’re about done.
Weather has definitely slowed cattle down here too.
I’d split the difference between what they have been getting and what they’re eating.
Don’t change ingredients! That will totally throw them off.
They won’t lose much if any.
Yes, but you've still got to get in with them.
I agree 6 head should be easy. Follow a bucket anywhere kinda cattle.
But livestock experience is everything. You or I can probably work cattle with wire panels and baling wire and get away with it. While others need extra safe set ups to make it...
Once they’re in there they aren’t getting out.
The vet I used to work for was crowding a 6wt hfr with a gate to load her in the alley. The hfr decided to stick her head under the gate and lifted it off the hinges. She flipped the gate and the vet. Broke some vertebrae in his neck. He now has a...
You could have the opposite problem; we have three large animal vet clinics within 7 miles of home. I wouldn’t call any of them if I had to.
We use a vet over an hour away. He semen tests the bulls and drop ships script drugs. I do everything else.
Amazon sells a few. Not sure if any are better or worse.
I prefer a Newberry knife. They’re easy to sharpen and have replaceable blades. Small calves I use a scalpel with a #12 blade. I can hold the handle in my teeth, freeing both hands.
I just bought the round baler last fall. It’s really at the bottom end of enough hp.
The baler is the only thing it has trouble with. I run my TMR wagon everyday all winter no problem
I have a JD 6320 . It’s 100 engine hp. It uses the same engine as a JD 6420. Which is 110 engine hp.
I run my round baler with it and it does ok on flat ground but falls flat on its face in hills.
I talked to my mechanic today about turning it up and he said that pump would have to be sent...
