I know how ya feel @TexasJerseyMilker I purposely kept my heifer out of Bessie and my black mutt bull because I really liked them both. I do regret selling her as a heavy bred heifer even tho she brought really good money. Do what you love! We are fortunate that folks on here share...

Don't make me bring my goat too!! I didn't get to watch many calves sell today. But the ones I did see, were pretty darn expensive. I think the supply chain ain't keeping up! Too many calf factories sent to slaughter. Crazy thing was, lots of nice 2 to 5 year old pairs from 2200 to 2750...

That about it! Tho, sometimes it don't play fair. If the calf inherited the black gene and wasn't black itself, weird things could happen. I think that's what they call a recessive gene?? Either way, it's about your only chance. Nothing wrong with a black jersey. I think they are the bees...

I kept back Bessies black heifer. Sired by a black bull (Ricky) Unfortunately I sold her. She was bred hereford. Should've calved by now. Wish I knew.....

Way too high! I used to buy em at 50 to 200 bucks. At 3 months they'd bring 600 plus. Those 50 dollar calves I'd craigslist while the cow was helping them along for 300. They made the money for sure! Now it seems ya gotta get em over 300lbs to make dough. So I've gone to keeping these two sets...

I think I said that a while back.... 😆 Dang things are still too high! Market drops and it'll all fall apart. But! This may be the new "normal"
