I'm in a convience store. The lady ahead of me gets out of a brand new luxury car, nice clothes, real looking jewlery, fancy hair, beautiful nails- basically a very well put together lady. So I get in line behind her, shes got a gallon of milk. She asks for 20 $5 scratch off tickets and pays...

    Lespedeza outcomes

Back this spring there were several of us talking about trying Lespedeza. How did it work out? I learned some stuff and had enough good results that I am going to use it again next year. I made some mistakes and had total failures in some pastures- but in others I had great results. Next year...

    Interesting research

Ever wonder why some herds seem to have consistently high production on relatively simple rations? It may be because they are fed the same way every day with very few changes. Consistency is very important to a cow or, more correctly, to a cow’s microbial community. A ration that is fine-tuned...

    Selling loads safely

I was ignorant in the past and thought that selling thru an agent gave me some protection of non payment. The Eastern debacle proved the error in that thought pattern. I am wondering what to do this year when I sell cattle to protect myself better. On top of not having adequate bonds...

    Amazing set of calves

I put in 240 low end 4 wt bulls 30-55 days ago. They went on feed faster than any I have ever had- they were all(based on groups of 20 to 70 head) on full feed in less than a week. I have only pulled five--- one was sick, one had foot rot, the other a slightly infected bag, two were failure...
