    Calves sold today

I'm located in Northeast PA. About an hour north of Williamsport. Some of the calves are going as high as $10/lb up here. There was a black angus bull calf that brought over $8.50 on Monday.. I almost offered her for sale on either Marketplace or Craigslist for $400 as I could never imagine...

    Cow Attack Insurance

You might just be able to add FCPL (Farmers Comprehensive Personal Liability) to existing home insurance policy. That way you don't have to buy a full fledged farm insurance policy just to cover the cattle on your place. This does depend on the insurance company you currently have.

Would you use a classified section?

I would be interested. Cattle and cattle working equipment would be my main interest.

    Sale barn to craigslist

We have a guy that buys at Monday's sale and by Wed the "had colostrum and from great mother's" calves are on CL. I don't mind the flipping, but be honest that you have no idea what the calf had in it and that it was exposed to how many other calves and animals in the 48 hours since the sale....

    English Shepard

After over 60 years of Border Collies on our farm, I was almost disowned by my father for getting an English Shepherd this summer. But he's come around to the fact that she's a great farm dog. At less than 4 months she was already trying to herd cattle and is more than willing to jump right in...

    Different Colours

A few pics of the Braunvieh cross feeders on Sat. I wish we had some rain to grow some pasture to see what they could have done, instead of being on hay for 2 months... the difference between them and the Hereford sire is quite significant I think...First pic is of 2 heifers (yes, one has...

    Hereford Holstein cross, why?

The two pics of the bulls? Wondering how they will have any affect on the calves that were born before these 2 bulls arrived? On current calf I could see the Braunvieh being an issue, but tough to blame him on calf from 4 years ago when he's only a little over 3 years old.
