    Brindling in Herefords

WLM, Brian is right, the brindling effect you see is actually 'clipper tracks'. Beefman, all pictures shown are 3027. Pictures were taken at different ages of the bull and at different body conditions. When printing high quality pictures, any slight differences in appearance are easier to see.

    Name that bull

H76 I was afraid of giving that away when I was trying to get a bigger picture to post. Got me stumped on #22 now and I can't seem to recall 137Y, Bar Pipe's 137W keeps popping into my head instead. Must mean for sure that its Monday. I know #24 but I think I will wait and see how much...

    Name that bull

Surely it would be too easy to think that #21 is 128M standard aga 10s by the 10s at the bottom of the picture, just guessing here by the way, never have seen 10s. This bull will probably be very easy but here goes anyway.

Breed Character What happened to it?

So give us the opportunity to understand better the breed character or absence of it in your operation. Or give us an example (either pictures of your operation or pictures of sires used) to illustrate what exactly it is you are talking about. I don't necessarily disagree with you on the...

Breed Character What happened to it?

"When Herefords came from across the pond they were known for being well adapted for harsher conditions they could get out and cover some ground and they were known for their outstanding marbeling along with grade. I hope this answers your question." So who says herefords have lost the ability...

    Name that bull

Chris H, My latest post was a guess on #20 being either LCI Full Voltage 5U or SNS Generator 28X. Can't think off hand of Andy's full name. Hope that helps. capt

Any thoughts on this old bull????

I never thought about that pic being King Ten. I saw a picture of what I was informed was King Ten but now I wonder as what I remember that picture to be was not anything remotely close to this picture. Anyone have a picture of FRC Sir 1. There is no doubt about the influence of King Ten...

Breed Character What happened to it?

I have probably missed something somewhere but in the start of this post you talked about breed character and mentioned british breeds. Then later you mention returning to the 'European' phenotype. My question is what breed or breeds are you working with in your operation. I can't help but...

    Name that bull

been having trouble logging in and replying to a post, hope someone has some pointers for troublshooting. Anyhow will take a guess at #20. I will guess either 5U or 28X. I have never seen a picture of 28X but he shows up on the maternal side of a lot of solid breeding bulls and a few of the...

    Name that bull

H76, nope i remembered red bear 51 and what the adv z146 cattle were like. we used an arrow son in the early eighties. Left us easy fleshing wide based cows made like a tank that milked very well and were super protective mothers. If my very limited spanish is accurate at all, your hint of...

    Name that bull

I say #6 is either Adv Z146 or Red Bear 51. Don't know 7 or 8, but I will guess #9 is sns generator 28x.

    Question for the Hereford Historians

I believe the PW prefix was used by Pruett-Wray in Arizona. I don't know if Coopers and Holdens ever ran a herd together or not but they have purchased bulls from one another for years. It would be very intersting to hear from anyone with more knowledge about the various lines at Miles City...

    Some of our Herefords

Good looking commercial cows and some fancy calves in those pictures, too. So is the nine year old 'perfect footed' bull out of the Titan 7777 daughter? Has he seen any black cows? Just a small part (7777 influence) of the genetics involved there, but I would rather see Line One or Mark...

The White Cow(for all you shortie lovers)

Is she full shorthorn. i.e. no maine anjou or clubbies in the woodpile? I have been trying to find some shorthorn bulls for a feller with no maine influence for some time but the quality has been hard to come by. Registered or not makes no difference, just no maine or chi influence.

    Herdbull and progeny pictures

Yes, over 50 years with registered Herefords and just over ten with registered Angus. Plus plenty of baldies made from those cows fired from the registered herd! ;-) capt
