    Feed wagon with head catch

Did you use it for any shots? Seems like you could vaccinate or synchronize a large number pretty quick.

    Feed wagon with head catch

How did that work? I've thought about it. Seems it would be much easier than running them through the pens. Apache makes one that looks like it would work well, but they are pretty pricey.

    Forage test result

Where did you send your sample to be tested? Looks like pretty decent hay.

    Steel Prices

If you happen to come up with 2 sets, let me know. I'm just down the road in Chipley and we haven't been able to find any either.

    Weight for breeding heifers

Read your feeding program for grown cows on the protein tub thread. Do you mind to elaborate on your heifer development program? Do you just feed them higher quality hay, or do they get additional supplement?

    Barn design assistance...

It's hard to make suggestions because the drawing is not really to scale and it's unclear where the problem is. It looks like the cattle are expected to enter a single width alley through the side of the barn and immediately make a left hand turn. If that's the case, they are going to balk at...

    Black plasic coil waterline leaks

we use FloPlast fittings. They are pretty easy and we haven't had any leaks. Pretty expensive, but for larger pipe, we couldn't find any fittings to work.

    Solar panel for fencer

Anyone on here able to provide a link or explain to me how to calculate what size solar panel I would need to charge the battery on our fencer? How big a panel can you use without a charge controller? I've searched, but am getting myself more confused. Thanks for any help.

    Murray Grey bulls

Thanks for the replies CP and steve. It's funny you mention the size of the gene pool as an advantage and disadvantage. Last year we used all natural service with these 3 bulls and one other. Prior to that we used AI for several seasons. I did a pretty thorough search for available sires and...

    Murray Grey bulls

Thanks for the replies. Knersie, they are all out of the Kauri bull that you and I have discussed before. We have some really nice daughters out of him, too. I have one bull calf out of Patron that is half sib to the 109 bull that I'm hoping will continue to develop. Maybe he will add a...

    Murray Grey bulls

Thought some of you might be interested to see the three MG bulls we will be using this year. The first is 024, a 3 year old. The other 2 are 2 year olds. They are all half brothers. I haven't posted any pics in a while. I think we're making some progress. 024 024 109 109 131 131

    how to price a carcass

I do understand (although we don't usually lose 50%). My point was that $1.79 is the wholesale price which is not the market people who sell halves are selling into. They are competing with retail and even Walmart beef is fairly expensive if you price steaks/roasts/etc. Try going to whole...
