Black Angus - epd MARB to IMF% conversion???

What is the estimated correlation factor between marbling and imf%??? So just making sure I understand. They would take the imf% from their scanner and then multiply it by a standard correlation number? Would you mind doing an example for me? Thanks so much!

Black Angus - epd MARB to IMF% conversion???

For the US Black Angus breed the epds have MARB scores, but places like Australia use IMF% (which to me makes more sense), but how do they correlate? For example, if here the MARB score is 1.26 what would that mean in IMF% terms??? I haven't been able to find anything out that looks...

    Black Charolais?

Draper....yeah considering cattle only come in 3 colors and all other colors are modifiers of those three...than yes you do need a dilution gene on black to get blue. No cattle exist in any color besides red, black and wild...everything outside of that is a modifier or an albino. And not every...

    Embryo Pricing???

Trying to understand the market better. What makes the difference in a $500 embryo vs a $1500 embryo? My Vet told me some Brahman embryos go for $1500 per embryo. I could see if it was to increase marbling and was in the top 1% or if they were a rare breed and wasn't very many or at the very...

    Hereford talk

Ky Hills - I agree with you! I think people should be careful before ruling out something as not being pure. I knew a lady that raised Romagnola for 50 years and during that time she had a few of her cattle that came out polled and started breeding for it. She was a serious breeder and won a lot...

    Black Charolais?

also I should note that breeding 2 blue roans together will not yield you 100% blue roan offspring.

    Black Charolais?

SBMF 2015 - usually it is a white shorthorn put on a black galloway but it can be done several different ways. You can cross a Charolais with Holstein and get some very beautiful blue and silver spotted calves but to get blue roan you need an animal that carries roan like shorthorns. So a blue...

    Black Charolais?

Ky Hills - so brindling can happen with a black cow carrying a recessive red gene and carrying a brindling gene. If the cow was just heterozygous black (black coat color expressed but carrying a red) the cow would be black and not brindle...brindle is its own add on bonus. So not only must she...

    Romagnola VS Aubrac

Rafter S he still has an operation and he was the original importer of Romagnola into the US. He would win all the bull shows so I bought semen from what he considered his very best bulls, but I'm not sure how active he is with it anymore but he has an impressive operation nonetheless. I do know...

    Black Charolais?

The article talks about how their "black" Charolais have tan colored rings around their nose etc... well that means its not black that means it has wild type coloring, which wild type is its own category separate from red and black. All modern day cattle descended from Aurochs that had wild type...

    Romagnola VS Aubrac

so what kind of cattle do you raise?

    Black Charolais?

never heard of a black Charolais but I would think it wouldn't have a lot of Charolais in it to be truly black in color. Charolais carry 2 genes for dilution so that is why when you breed a Charolais and black Angus you get a smokey color similar to Murray Grey. So if you would have to then...

    Romagnola VS Aubrac

I got mine from a friend before she passed away. She use to always win the Romagnola shows back in the 70s with her heifers and cows but the gentleman who originally imported Romagnola always won the bull division. I ended up with her females and the gentleman's bull semen. I think there is a...

    Romagnola VS Aubrac

Thank you for the replies. I have Romagnola and I have been very happy with them. I'm using them in a development program, but I hadnt raised Aubrac and I was curious for a comparison. I would say that with the Romagnola that they add vigor, conformation especially in feet and legs, with very...

    Front teats not full?

Update: I massaged her udder more today and still did not feel anything weird, but I did get a few drops out of one teat! The teat still is not full looking though and after getting a couple of drops out of one nothing more came out even after working it for awhile. I will continue to update. Thanks
